Cuckoo

'Cuckoo'
“He said it was better to belong where you don't belong than not to belong where you used to belong, remembering when you used to belong there.”

Not sure if I am happy with this sculpture, I didn't have that satisfied feeling when I finished it.
Perhaps it is the stakes they are mounted on? It is made up of found objects and handmade ones.
The head is made of pit-fired ceramic, with gold paint, in addition there are two bird skulls with gold paint detail, and a bird claw also with gold detail. They are all mounted in a birds nest.  Below are some detailed photos of the piece.

New Work: 'Untitled,'(Bubba and Hounds)

New hanging sculpture; pit-fired ceramic and thread. pieces are attached with nails to a square board which can be hung. Some of the pieces have broken in the process of making but have been repaired using the method of Kintsugi or Kintsukuroi which is the Japanese method of mending broken pottery with gold or silver lacquer, and understanding that the piece is more beautiful having been broken. Below are more detailed photos of the piece.
