Hand built pit-fired clay with egg

Egg is inside of sculpture, which just balances on the egg. The egg is whats known as a 'fairy egg,' a smaller than normal sized egg played by a hen. The egg has been blown so is hollow, and has been rubbed with gold paint.
This piece would be best viewed from a high glass platform where the viewer can pier underneath it to see the egg.

Hand carved wood, burnt with blow torch, wire, glass, and polymer clay

An attempt at hand carving a bit of wood to resemble a bird like shape as best I could. Going back to the primitive, not worrying to much about the exactness or likeness of the piece, but as long as the general idea was there from the first visual then thats all I needed to do. I will try this again if i can find an appropriate piece of beach wood.

Reverting back to the primitive artist in me, art brut or whatever jargon one wishes to use. At does not have to mean perfection.

 A small sculpture of a woman covered from head to toe in long, matted hair. To look at she looks like a piece of bronze or polished coal; A small simple piece.

International Womans Day

A little piece I knocked up quickly while waiting for clay to drain honour of National Woman's Day.
You may have noticed from previous works that I have a fascination with hair, feral woman, and Lilith, this has shown itself again here.

The writing on the cloth in hand says,

' I wasn't taken seriously in neither trousers or dress; so I scared them by taking power with my breasts. Throwing out my razor, keeping them at bay, by letting my body hair cover my flesh.'

 I am not to sure about this piece. I have been working away on it slowly for a while now. The wood has been sitting in the studio for a number of weeks after I rescued it from the wood shed. I just followed my instinct with this and did what felt right. Really what I do when I make most of these funny little pieces, working with the wood, and whatever is in reach in the studio, a natural meditative process without thought or need of a deep meaning or explanation as to why I am making it.
 Hopefully one day these funny little objects will be appreciated by the world while I am still around to see it.
