Tanya Kirouac

Encaustic Paintings
From the greek enkaustikos which means "to heat" or "to burn". Encaustic is the name for both, a medium of pigmented wax, and the process involving heat, by which the medium is applied and secured

Tanya Kirouac is an encaustic artist from Montreal, based in Toronto and Prince Edward County. She paints with heated wax to which she’s added coloured pigment. Encaustic allows for the building of layers, the carving out of colours and shapes, for a delicate luminosity and smoothed roughness.
