Third Year

I started my third year of art college yesterday. This should be interesting. I did nothing over the summer, and frankly I feel better for it. After last year I really needed some time off to refresh. Hopefully this approach will be successful.
I will probably be continuing with the dream aspect of my project which I worked on last year.
I want to be freer and more relaxed with my work, and not be so worried about how it goes down on paper.
I want to enjoy what I am doing. We have been moved up to the second floor, which is a strange view on the world.
A bright sunny room an a bit larger than last years, unfortunately it is a bit far from the print studio, and we will probably have to fight our way through the wave of two hundred some first years, but we shall manage.
I was a bit late on choosing my desk So I am right in front of the door, but at least it makes escape easy and quick, plus it is a corner all to myself and I am not squished with someone else.
So wish me luck, and I will keep you updated!

Second Year Print

So its been nearly a week since I started college. I am now in second year print and I think it will go well. We got our project briefs the other day. I'm not quit sure were I am going to go with it yet. Some of the artists we were given to look at are very abstract, and I am not to keen as they dont refer to my own work/style.
The brief is very broad, really its just something to get us going. The title of the project is

Spaces, Structures, and Systems: Abstraction and Figuration hep build new worlds

We will be using lithography and Intaglio printing. So hopefully it will all go well. We shall see.

Trials and Tribulation

Had a bit of a bad week this week. Wasent really sure my head was at, and was, and still is somewhat, feeling a rather inadiquite about my work, and wasent sure what the hell I was doing. After talking to my tutors I do feel a bit better about it all and feel alot more confidnt about being in paint. Its what I came here to do and I know if I left I would be very dissapopinted in myself and would always have that inkling of regret. Hopefully it will all work out for the best. The only bummer is that I have gotten very little done this week. Hopefully I can do a bit of catching up and everything will go back to normal!

A Seed of Doubt

I think we all have it, those thoughts. That little voice in the back of your head thats constanly questioning everything you do. The one that makes you re-live every action, conversation, thought, and memory, that you have come across over the years, playing them over and over again, with his old fashioned projector.
I think that little voice of mine is alot louder than most, it makes me wonder what the hell I am doing here? Are these choices I make the right ones? And if everything happens for a reason then whats the reason?
It would be nice if someone would cut us a break and let us in on the big joke, but I guess thats asking to much. All we can do is chose the path that we think is right, and hope for the best, we just have to keep our eyes open, so we can see those bumps and potholes  before we get to them.
Nothing is ever what you expect it to be..

Ranking

I've chosen painting for my ranking project. The project is very open, meaning we can do what ever we like. Whats important is the process and the journey we take over the next few weeks, the finished painting is just a bonus.
This week just been focused on research and a side project we have to do on an artist. I have a couple of iseas flying around on my head but mostly this week, as usual, ive being heading in the direction of nature. Mostly focusing on Daffodiles, but rather than looking at them as a whole I've been focusing more on the colours as a whole and the shapes of the plant. I'm hoping to go down the line of Absrtact Expressionism, hopefully my tutors will approve.
I still have to update some things from the last couple of weeks but hopefully I will have some sketchbook work and such on this project up soon.
